To our Vegan on the Fly family, With heavy hearts and so much gratitude, we’re sharing that November 7 will be our final day at our Midtown NYC location. We started Vegan on the Fly in 2020 with a simple mission: to help grow the vegan community and give everyone a delicious, plant-based version of the NYC street food they grew up loving. Whether you had been vegan for years or were trying plant-based food for the very first time, we wanted you to feel welcome at our table. From our earliest pop-up tents and food truck events to our home in Midtown, in one of the greatest cities in the world, you made that mission possible. You showed up, brought your friends, shared our food, left kind reviews, and turned a small family dream into a community. Because of you, we became one of NYC’s highest-rated vegan restaurants. People traveled from all over the world to try our food, and we never took that for granted. Knowing that you made us part of your trip, your lunch break, or your regular routine meant more to us than you know. These years have also brought challenges that so many small business owners know all too well. We pushed through COVID, repeated government-mandated closures, rising costs, the loss of outdoor dining, and the challenges that came with running a small business in New York City. Through it all, we kept showing up because serving you made the hard days worthwhile. Now, following the sale of our building, renewing our lease would come with a rent increase that we simply cannot sustain. As difficult as this decision is, it’s time for us to close this chapter of Vegan on the Fly in Midtown. What we’ll miss most is you. So many of you became more than customers. We learned your names, remembered your orders, shared stories, and watched friendships grow across our counter. We also had the privilege of meeting fellow vegan restaurant owners whose passion and dedication reminded us why this community is so special. And to our NYC family: please keep supporting your local vegan restaurants and small businesses. Stop in. Bring a friend. Share a post. Leave a review. Your support helps keep this community alive and gives the people behind these businesses a chance to keep doing what they love. We still have a month together, and we’d love to make every bit of it count. Stop by for one last meal with us before November 7. This may be the end of Vegan on the Fly in Midtown, but the community you helped us build reaches far beyond these walls. Thank you for believing in us since 2020. Thank you for letting us feed you.
